G-tube, NG-tube & Medical Feeding Support
Expert Support for Medically Complex Feeding Needs
Feeding a child with a tube or medical complexity can be challenging, confusing, and stressful at times. Whether your baby is newly discharged from the NICU or your child relies on NG-tubes, G-tubes, or J-tubes due to complex medical needs, you deserve guidance that is both skilled and supportive.
With training and experience as part of the Feeding and Swallowing Team at Boston Children’s Hospital, I bring a depth of expertise in caring for infants and children with medical complexities. Using child-led, evidence-based strategies, I help families take practical steps forward—reducing stress, building confidence, and promoting safe and meaningful progress with feeding.

When calling your insurance, ask:

“Sarah has been amazing working with our micro preemie NICU graduate! He left the NICU with a feeding aversion and NG tube but Sarah was able to help us get rid of both within a month! Sarah also was able to run a swallow study for our baby which was critical in figuring out how to get our guy to start taking more volume. Working with Sarah has been one of the best decisions weve made for our little guy! Would highly recommend Sarah to everyone looking for feeding assistance for their little ones!”

“My son came home from a three month stay at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia completely dependent on an NG tube, and displayed such anxiety when it came to anything going near his mouth. We began therapy with Sarah the same week he came home, and have seen tremendous progress. Now at 8 months old, our son is taking all of his feeds by bottle and no longer needs an NG tube. We could not have done this without Sarah's help, knowledge, skill, and patience. Sarah is currently working with our son on accepting solids. Although, he still shows strong anxiety, every week I notice a small positive change. I highly recommend Sarah. Not only is she an amazing and knowledgeable therapist, she has become a part of our family.”

“My daughter has undergone some challenges medically this year with multiple hospitalizations and new medications essentially leading to food and bottle aversion. I was desperate for help and after one phone consultation with Sarah I instantly felt at ease. She was knowledgeable and confident in being able to help. The minute Sarah stepped into our home, you felt a calm presence. she works WONDERFULLY with the kids and feels like part of the family. We have continued sessions with Sarah and are amazed at the progress my daughter has made with her help. My daughter will now consume more with her bottles, show interest in solids, and started drinking from a straw. After so many nights worrying and crying that my baby is not eating enough I finally feel at ease that we are headed in the right direction. There truly are not enough words to express how thankful we are for Sarah’s talent and expertise. she wholeheartedly changed our lives! 1000/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone.”

Every child’s journey is different, and outcomes depend on their medical history and current abilities. Many children with feeding tubes can make progress toward oral eating, whether that’s tasting small amounts, adding “pleasure tastes,” or eventually transitioning to full oral intake. My role is to help your child move forward at their own pace using safe, evidence-based strategies.
-
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Some children make progress quickly, while others require more gradual steps based on their medical stability, oral skills, and readiness. We’ll set individualized goals and regularly review progress so you know what to expect.
-
Yes. Feeding therapy isn’t only about tube weaning—it’s about supporting safe, positive oral experiences, promoting developmental skills, and reducing stress for your child and family. Even children who remain tube-dependent benefit from building comfort and confidence with food and oral motor skills.
-
Collaboration is essential. I regularly communicate (with your permission) with your child’s medical team—pediatrician, GI, nutritionist, cardiologist, neurologist, and others —so that recommendations are consistent and everyone is on the same page. This ensures your child’s care is coordinated and safe.
-
That’s a very common concern. We’ll start with small, no-pressure steps like sensory play, tasting, or interacting with food in fun, safe ways. Even if your child isn’t ready to eat right away, these early experiences help build the foundation for progress later.
-
I don’t bill insurance directly, but I provide superbills (detailed receipts) that many families submit for out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards are also accepted.

The first step is a comprehensive feeding evaluation where I learn about your child’s history, challenges, and goals. From there, I’ll create a personalized plan and we’ll decide together on next steps. Click on the ‘Get Started!’ button to send an inquiry.
